Mission Statement
Since the start of Shin-Yokohama Junior Ice Hockey Club (our former name), we have been committed to;
- Promoting a new model of ice hockey from Shin-Yokohama
- Contributing to creative and well-rounded personality development
- Being a sport club rooted in the community
As the environment surrounding ice hockey continues to evolve, we remain committed to shaping the future of the sport in Japan by demonstrating innovative approaches from Shin-Yokohama. In order to further accelerate it, we have partnered with the Asia League pro team “Yokohama GRITS”, and from April 2025, we have been proudly carrying the name “Yokohama GRITS Junior”.
Development goals
- Through the sport of ice hockey, help the players develop their resourcefulness – communication, listening, and learning skills.
- Ensure every player acquires fundamental ice hockey skills, knowledge, and good habits that would be prerequisites in the sport by the time they play at the high-school level – striving also to develop elite players.
Our coaching staff, primarily parent volunteers, work closely with General Director Yuji Iwamoto (current Head Coach of Yokohama GRITS) to deliver high-quality coaching.
With the club’s proud tradition, our goal is to raise the next generation of players who will lead the future of ice hockey in Japan from Kanagawa with the spirit of consideration, empathy, and compassion.
